In Defense Of Drinking Dark Roast Coffee [Rant]

Death Wish Coffee is a dark french roast so naturally, we're all a little biased when it comes to how we like our coffee roasted. Despite this, I really do just love the bold taste of the darkest roasted beans I can get my hands on. I have since I started drinking coffee as a preteen. When I drink a bold dark roast, it's almost like I can taste the caffeine that's about to course through my veins. It tastes like coffee in the most traditional way you can have it. 

I have had one issue, however, when it comes to darkly roasted deliciousness. There are a lot of coffee people out there (and I mean this in a nice way as consider myself to be a serious coffee snob in training) that are just so set in their light roast ways. When I walk up to the counter and say, I'll have a small dark roast, they look at me sideways and instantly I feel like I'm not one of the cool kids. 


I get it, light roast is really good. You can taste flavor notes in a way that is unique to a coffee bean that has been only brought to a certain shade. But guess what light roast coffee snobs: maybe it's not the only way to drink coffee? In fact, I think there's room for all sorts of different roasts. Some people can't handle the acidity of a light roast and don't even get me started on the whole light roast has more caffeine debate (it's a myth that traces back to measuring the density of the bean to the amount of caffeine). 

The moral of the story is this: the next time someone looks at you with a holier-than-thou stare for ordering the dark roast, know that you are not alone. In fact, your love of all roasts might just make you the more expert coffee drinker in my opinion. There's room for all blends so let's drink up, shall we?
